Vegeterian Tips: Eat a dark green vegetable broccoli, spinach, kale, collard greens at least three times a week. These nutritional powerhouses are packed full of vitamins such as calcium and iron. On the run or hate spinach? Try drinking your greens. I recommend Naked Juice s Green Machine its made with fruit juice as well as greens, so it tastes better than others.

Ingredients (use vegan versions):

1/2 cup raw blanched or slivered almonds

2 cups filtered warm wate

1 teaspoon vanilla or almond extract (optional)

Directions:

Place almonds in a blender. At high
speed add water and blend for several
minutes or until all solids are pulverized.
Add extract and sweetener if desired.
Strain through a piece of cheesecloth
or fine sieve if a thinner consistency is
desired. Chill for several hours.

Serves: 1 – 2

Preparation time: Quick!

Vegeterian Tips: If the above fast food tips do not work for a fast food restaurant that you are at, then just get a meatless burger. Ask for a Big Mac or Whopper without the meat that is the bun, lettuce, tomato, cheese, pickles, and mayonnaise.

Ingredients (use vegan versions):

2 tablespoons cocoa powde

1 tablespoon brown vegan sugar (or equivalent alternative swetener)

a dash of cinnamon

half a cup of rice or almond milk

Directions:

Mix together dry ingredients with a fork until there are no
lumps. Add a tablespoon or two of rice or almond milk and
stir thoroughly to make a paste. Add the remainder of
the rice milk and stir until smooth. Warm over very low heat
for 20 minutes (the longer you heat it, the smoother it
gets), stirring periodically. Top up with boiling water to
make 1 cup and stir.

Caution: keep out of reach of children! If you have
heart trouble, consult your physician before drinking this!

Notes: Be careful if you try to substitute soy milk for the
rice or almond milk – some soy milks will curdle. Edensoy
Original curdles; Edensoy Extra doesn”t. I”ve been told
this recipe works well in much less time in a microwave – I
haven”t tried it myself.
View the video also if available, and feel free to comments, share.

Vegeterian Tips: If you are going to a gathering with all your meat lover friends such as a barbeque or pig roast, bring your own veggie burger to place on the grill. You can also make your own veggie kabobs with fresh vegetables and tofu. Just make sure to bring enough, as most people will want to try and probably like what you are eating!

Ingredients (use vegan versions):

1 cup plain soy yogurt

2 cups water

1 teaspoon rosewater (optional)

6 tablespoon vegan sugar

8 tablespoon mango pulp (best & easiest if canned)

Directions:

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend for 30-60
seconds. For a thicker lassi, add more yogurt and a bit
more mango. I never concern myself with exact measures.
Also, many people like to play with the amount of vegan sugar and
mango to vary the sweetness- that is always good, but try it
this way first.

Serves: 2 & 1/2

Vegeterian Tips: If you know you are going to be eating at a certain restaurant on Saturday night, call ahead and ask if they offer any vegetarian entrees. If the answer is no, ask if something can be prepared for your dietary needs. Most likely, the answer will be yes.

Ingredients (use vegan versions):

100% fruit juice concentrate

Sparkling water

(you can add herbs/spices to your juice; ginger goes well

with lemon juice)

Directions:

Prepare the juice according to package directions. Fill
your drinking cup with about 3/4 juice. Add the
sparkling water and enjoy!

Vegeterian Tips: It s true ladies and gentleman! Certain fast food restaurants are now offering veggie burgers, as well as salads. While most of the salads may come with chicken or meat, you can ask them to leave it off. Just be careful of the dressings, as most have tons of sugar and calories. You also have baked potatoes, or fruit and yogurt options.

Ingredients (use vegan versions):

1 cup apple juice

1 frozen banana (or any frozen fruit)

3 heaping tablespoons of uncooked oatmeal

3 tablespoons of vegan maple syrup ( or to your taste)

Vegeterian Tips: Keep your favorite salad dressings on hand. I find that I m much more likely to eat my greens or some raw veggies when my favorite salad dressings are in the fridge. A little variety is great too I try to keep at least two kinds, either store bought or homemade on hand at all times. Some of my favorites are homemade goddess dressing, Thai peanut sauce from my local Asian grocer and rasberry vinaigrette. A vegan ranch dressing was helpful as well when I was trying to wean myself off dairy.

 Ingredients (use vegan versions):

1 Banana

2-3 Medjool Dates (or any kind), pits removed

1 to 1 1/2 cups Rice Milk

Directions:

Put banana and dates in blender. Add a small amount of rice milk and
blend for 1 minute. Add remainder of milk and blend for 1 more minute.
Drink up! This liquid breakfast is healthy and delicious. Try
experimenting with different fruits.

Vegeterian Tips: Make it a goal to eat at least one piece of raw fruit or a handful of raw vegetables every dayI try to eat an apple first thing in the morning to get it out of the way.

Ingredients (use vegan versions):

Lemon juice (fresh squeezed is best), about a 1/4 cup (???)

Sugar to taste (probably about two or three tbsp)

Water

Several medium-sized young borage leaves

Directions:

Dump all the ingredients in the blender and whir it around
for about thirty seconds, or a little more. Strain into a
glass. Borage has an interesting taste something like mint
and something like cucumbers, excellent with lemonade.

Vegeterian Tips: Many upscale food chains have either one or the other, or both salad and soup bars. Salad bars are great for vegetarians, but be careful not to overload on dressings, croutons, nuts, or cheese. Be sure to check with your server about the soups available and that they are bean based, with no meat. If there is nothing else available, salad and soup bars can make a hearty and tasty meal.

Ingredients (use vegan versions):

1 gallon apple juice (natural, unfiltered)

1 4 inch piece of vanilla bea

2 cinnamon sticks

2 valenica or navel oranges(5 inch diameter or use 3) organic

2 tablespoon real vanilla extract

vegan maple syrup (if really necessary) to taste

Directions:

Slice the oranges into rounds. Split the vanilla bean lengthwise. Pour the juice into a
crock pot or stainless steel
pot, add the oranges, vanilla extract and bean, and cinnamon. Bring up to a moderate boil
and hold there
for at least 15 minutes. Then reduce the heat to a simmer, and continue to cook 30 – 45
minutes longer. Add maple syrup if you must. May be kept warm all day-just add more juice
in small amounts each time.
